A three-kilometer long bridge connecting Kanchanpur of Saptari to Rajabas of Sunsari is going to be constructed as the alternative to the present Koshi Barrage Bridge.
The Koshi barrage bridge connects Saptari and Sunsari districts. The bridge is to be constructed based on the detailed project report prepared few years ago.
The estimated cost of the bridge is Rs 43 billion, shared Director at the Department of Roads Project Directorate, Chuda Raj Dhakal.
The travel along East-West highway would be shortened by 14 kilometers once the bridge comes into operation. The bridge is to be constructed with financial support of Asian Development Bank.
Dhakal added that necessary technical preparation regarding construction of a new bridge and road is underway. A 43-kilometre new road would also be constructed along with special types of bridge under the project.
Currently, necessary procedural activities are moving forward for construction of overall structures of bridge and road.(RSS)
