Institutional Purification Should Begin with Supreme Court: Former PM Bhattarai
Former Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has welcomed the Supreme Court’s five-point decision expressing its readiness to cooperate with a fair and lawful investigation into recently publicized matters concerning the Chief Justice and other Supreme Court justices.
In a statement posted on social media platform X, Bhattarai described the decision by the Supreme Court’s full bench as a positive development, particularly its commitment to facilitating an impartial investigation into the issues raised and assisting the investigative process in accordance with the law.
He said institutional purification should begin with the Supreme Court, which serves as the principal guardian of constitutional supremacy and the rule of law and provides the foundation for good governance.
According to Bhattarai, if the process of institutional reform and accountability begins at the Supreme Court, establishing good governance in practice across all organs and levels of the state would become more achievable.
Taking the court’s decision as a starting point, he urged the government to firmly advance an urgently needed institutional purification campaign throughout the state apparatus.
He said this was the greatest expectation of the general public from the current government.
